The University of Chicago Water Polo is a co-ed club composed of a diverse collection of people. We accept all members of the University of Chicago community, regardless of affiliation, age, gender, or experience. Although we do say that experience is not necessary to come play with us and that we are willing to teach anyone who has an interest in learning how to play, we are becoming more and more competitive as membership grows. We are now part of the Great Lakes division in the CWPA (Collegiate Water Polo Association) and also compete regularly in tournaments and games throughout the Chicagoland area.
We are a completely student-run club and are entirely self-coached. We are mainly coached by the more experienced players on the team, who come from a variety of backgrounds, from those who competed at the Varsity level to those who played on professional and Olympic teams across the world. We also come from a variety of educational and professional backgrounds! We are mainly supported by the University and club alumni, and as we get more and more people involved with the team, our spirit has grown and our team has improved dramatically over time.
For those interested in joining our team, feel free to come to any practice or contact someone on our executive board. We practice every Tuesday and Thursday from 7:00PM-9:00PM and Sunday from 10:30AM-12:00PM when school is in session.
